You can often gauge a company’s success by the longevity and loyalty of their customers and employees. Don Hewlett Chevrolet Buick's service department is a perfect example of success. Seven employees have over twenty years of employment at the dealership.  All of them starting their careers at the old Don Hewlett store in downtown Georgetown.

Cedric, Gary, James, Luis, Paul, Rob and Roy,  have over twenty years of building relationships and servicing vehicles that are often passed down from generation to generation. Gary Schneider, has enjoyed the family atmosphere at Hewlett. He said, "A lot has changed in the twenty-four years I've worked here. It's an amazing experience to watch the dealership grow and see familiar faces throughout the years."

Paul Conrad has served twenty-six years with the organization and is grateful for the experience and the work community.  His favorite part of the job is providing service to our incredible customers, and their families.

Luis Rodriguez reflected on his time at the dealership and said, "The Hewlett's are great people to work for. They provide a work environment that feels like family."  All of these men have perfected their crafts and have become important parts of the Hewlett organization forming lifelong relationships with customers through their experience and knowledge. These incredibly hardworking employees set the standard and serve as mentors for future employees.

Mike Hewlett, who works alongside these men each day, said that he was extremely proud to have such seasoned employees represent the family brand.   The contributions that they have made to the organization are appreciated.  So, the next time you are servicing your vehicle at Don Hewlett Chevrolet Buick, remember, your vehicle is in good hands.  Our dedicated employees look forward to serving you and generations to come.

Weak Battery?

Don’t let a weak battery run you down.

Sadly - vehicle battery life is limited and will diminish over time. In Texas you can expect a battery to last somewhere between 3 to 4 … maybe 5 years if you’re lucky. As time marches on, however, every battery simply wears out. Very cold temperatures 30’s and below, and very hot 90’s and above significantly impact your car battery’s performance and ability to start your car.

Here are 4 warning signs that you may be at risk for a battery related breakdown:
1) You hear grinding or a clicking sound when you turn the ignition.
2) Your vehicle cranks slowly when attempting to start.
3) Your headlights dim when idling but brighten when you rev your engine.
4) Your battery is more than three years old.

If you are concerned about your battery’s performance, we welcome you to visit any one of our 3 service locations (Chevy / VW or Xpress) for a FREE battery test. There is no charge for this test and we will provide you with a print-out showing your battery’s relative health. With this scan completed, you can drive away with confidence or with a new budget item. Either way, you will know your battery status and you can better prepare and plan. In the event that you do need a new battery, we proudly sell AC Delco and Interstate batteries – the batteries specifically designed for your GM and VW vehicle.

Please keep in mind that newer auto start/stop vehicles and their specialized batteries have computerized on-board battery management systems. When replacing a battery in these cars, the systems need to be coded to the new battery and most shops and parts stores can’t perform that programming. So, if you use one of these other outlets for a new battery and it causes error codes or warning light problems, make that second trip to us and we may be able to reset those for you.

As always we appreciate your business. Please contact us the next time we can provide professional, caring vehicle support for you or your family.

Do you really need a car that can go from 0 - 60 MPH in under 3 seconds?

It has been in the "works" for over 50 years.  The mid-engine sports car is not a new idea it’s just new to Chevrolet. The C7 platform or current Stingray had no room left for adjustments to improve the track performance as a production vehicle.  The naturally aspirated engine just couldn't be tweaked anymore to produce more horsepower in the front engine configuration.  Now, the 2020 C8 places the engine just a few inches away from where the power meets the road.  The air intake, the radiator placement, the exhaust location all had to be changed to add more horsepower.

The new 8 speed automatic transmission is the only transmission available and will provide a well-balanced sporty experience with an improved torque of almost 500 ft-lbs. Chevrolet debuted the long awaited C8 in California.  The hype became real as a red C8 drove onto the stage with the well know rumble of the Z51 exhaust. Corvette engineers did a fantastic job of keeping the look and storage space.

Rumor has it that the new C8 does 0-60 in under 3 seconds and while most Corvette owners don't 'need' to go that fast it's nice to know you have the potential.

Production for the new C8 is scheduled to begin in December which gives plenty of time to do your research.  Pricing for this beauty sill start at $59,995.  We will have two employees going to the Ron Fellows Driving School to learn how to maximize performance on the C8 this fall.  For more information or updates on allocations contact Mike Stephens at mstephens@donhewlett.com.  Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting vehicle.
